At PEACE Ranch there are a variety of horses that make up our therapeutic herd. Many of these horses are rescues, rejects or throw aways that we have restored and rehabilitated. They are then trained specifically for equine assisted therapy, learning, hippo-therapy or therapeutic riding. Many become capable of doing them all!
Introducing................
"Knight"
2006 Friesian/Saddlebred Gelding
Knight came to us from Mountain View Rescue in Kentucky and has quite a story. He was rescued in Spring 2010 and was placed in a foster home just north of Cincinnati, Ohio in later Fall 2010. You can read his story on the Mountain View site *here*. Knight will continue his training here at PEACE Ranch and will be used for all our programs. We named him "Knight because he has a valiant spirit.
Perfection's Dusty aka "Dusty"

1994 Missouri Fox Trotter Gelding
Dusty came to us as a 17 year old. His owner got a new job out of the area and had to leave him behind. Unable to sell and with mounting board costs, she decided to donate him to PEACE Ranch. Dusty is a wonderful addition and we look forward to him finding his niche.
Valley Ridge Vindication
aka "Vinnie"
2004 Morgan Gelding
Vinnie came to us as a weanling and has taught us all kinds of wonderful things. Vinnie is a sensitive, benevolent leader and has been used in PNH, EAP, EAL, for trail and dressage. He is truly a gifted individual.

Freckles
Pinto Welsh Cross Mare
Freckles is wonderful equine partner suitable for use in the broad spectrum of services we provide at PEACE Ranch. She is a good friend and has visited children all over the state including inner city Detroit for parades, parties and pony rides.
Max's Ginger Snap (aka "Ginger")
American Creme Draft Cross
Ginger is a lovely filly: easy going, level headed, a social butterfly and smart. Ginger will remain at PEACE ranch and undergo training.
She will be used in ways that are appropriate to her level of training and maturity.

Ruby Tuesday
Palomino Halflinger/Quarterhorse Mare
Ruby came to us through the Horse North Rescue program after almost starving to death. She has been with us for several years and has a gentle way with children. Ruby is a wonderful therapy horse. She is used for all of our programs and excels as a therapy horse
Cocoa Puff
Silver Dapple Mini
Cocoa was rescued from slaughter by his former owner but her horses picked on him mercilessly so he has come to PEACE Ranch continue his rehabilitation. Cocoa is sweet tempered and loves children.
Retired Therapy Horses
Rumor
Grey Thoroughbred Gelding
This older gentleman came to us a few years ago lame, covered in rain rot with multiple sores and wounds and seriously malnourished. The saddest thing was the look in his eyes. Rumor had been in a state of serious physical neglect for so long, his desire for living so compromised that he had stopped physical healing. There was no light in his eyes.
It took a while but the change in Rumor was dramatic. He recovered and was used in all of our therapy programs.
This year, he retired and has gone to our friends Bryan and Barb Romberg where he will enjoy a cushy life and lots of love. He is worth his weight in gold.

Gitana
Bay Andalusian/Arab Mare
Gitana, is wise beyond her years completed her first year at PEACE Ranch with honors. She did it all. She is a proven, sensitive, sensible, equine therapy partner.

Benevelo del Sol y Sombra
(aka Ben)
Grey Paso Fino Gelding
Ben is a performance bred, Paso Fino gelding who had the equivalent of a horsey nervous breakdown a few years ago and ended up here. He has a dramatic expressive disposition. He spent a full year in rehab just being used as a trail horse and last year, made his debut in our equine assisted learning programs.
Roxil aka "Roxy"
Sorrel Quarterhorse Mare
Roxy came to us through a dramatic rescue in 2010. She came to PEACE Ranch for assessment and stayed for rehabilitation. Her story is amazing so she has her own page. Roxy has begun her training to be used in all aspects of therapy and is proving to be a very effective "therapist". We have great hopes for Roxy this year.
Status: In training

Abbey's Stormy Skie aka "Skie"
2004 Morgan Gelding
Skie came to us in April, 2011. He is 15.3H and weight taped at 650lbs. Skie's rehabilitation included getting some much needed weight on. He also had some trust issues in his previous home but is doing amazingly well at the ranch. With his gentle and inquisitive nature, he is a natural therapy horse and is being used for all our programs.
