Founder of Peace Ranch

Jackie has led the way pioneering experiential equine assisted mental health and educational services in Northern Michigan. She is uniquely suited to this endeavor with her combined unique personal experience, solid multi-disciplinary experience in counseling and excellent horsemanship skills. Jackie oversees program design, implementation, assessment and provides overall organizational direction.

Forest Lakes Counseling Director & Cofounder of Peace Ranch

Farmer Paul oversees all Peace Ranch facility oriented issues and services on the Board of Directors and Facility Committee.

Paul is a Limited Licensed Psychologist, Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors, EAGALA Certified and is also specially certified to treat sexual addictions.

Paul has served as Director of Forest Lakes Counseling since 1990 which provides professional Christian counseling services for the community in the traditional style.

Clinical Director

Jan has served the Grand Traverse community for over 30 years through Munson Hospice and the Veterans Health Administration. She co-founded Equine Assisted Veterans Services at Peace Ranch in 2012 and we are thrilled to have her full time in 2019.

 

Cortney Moguel

Caretaker

Cortney Moguel served in the Army National Guard as Military Police (31B) from 2003- 2009. She deployed to Hurricane Katrina '05 and Operation Iraqi Freedom '06-'07. Cortney got her B.A. in Equine Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Riding from Asbury University and did her internship at Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center in Lancaster, KY. After graduation, she was hired in the program facilitating equine-assisted therapy/riding lessons, conducting training for human and horse with those lessons, assisting with horse care and grounds maintenance.

Cortney enjoys spending time with animals, gardening, hiking/running, journaling, and faith is very important to her. She and her husband, Anthony are Michigan natives and have 3 children.

Theresa Galante

Business Manager

Theresa grew up in Northern Michigan. She served in the USAF from 1984-1989 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Sacred Heart University. After working in the finance and human resource field in New York City and Stamford, CT, the Galante family relocated to Leesburg, Virginia where Theresa operated a horse boarding and lesson facility working with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding. In 2003, the Galante family moved back to Traverse City where she entered the non-profit sector, serving on various boards, finance committees and eight years as the Executive Director of a recreational facility. Horses are a lifelong passion for Theresa and along with her family, she enjoys skiing, biking and the great outdoors.

Seeking Executive Director position for Peace Ranch

Full time, $55,000-$70,000 based on experience and skills

Looking for someone with non-profit leadership experience -minimum of 5 years of working with non-profits. Fundraising and grant writing experience required.

Applicants must have the following abilities and skills:

  • Utilize opportunities to support and promote the organization's objectives through active participation, volunteerism, and other community engagement forms.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the non-profit community and in the field.

  • Develop new ideas and insights that result in process improvements and service enhancements.

  • Effectively utilize job resources. Provide leadership in developing programs, organizational, and financial and budgeting plans.

  • The Executive Director understands and embraces responsibility to uphold Peace Ranch Mission & Vision. Embraces organizational values, professional standards.

    Communication:

    • Attend all Committee Meetings representing the interest of the Board of Directors.

      • Fundraising, Finance, Program, Facility

    • Keeps the Board fully informed on the condition of the organization’s work and all-important factors influencing it.

    • Monitors all communication avenues and respond in a timely manner or fields to staff as appropriate.

    • Publicize and oversee all media/marketing of the activities of the organization, its programs, and goals.

    • Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.

    • Establish solid partnerships within the community.

    Program Oversight & Development:

    • Provide leadership in developing programs with key staff and organizational /financial plans with the Board of Directors. Carry out all authorized plans and policies authorized by the Board. 

    • Meet weekly with the Business Manager to assess and gain insight into the financial aspects of the organization.

    • Meet monthly with Department Heads individually to gain an understanding of each department’s strengths and address needs. (Clinical Director, Equine Director & Caretaker) thereby reinstating the Program Committee.

    • Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization.

    • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the nonprofit community and in the field.

    Outreach:

    • Works with marketing and media.

    • Plan and attend fund and friend raising events on and off ranch.

    • Represent the ranch in the community.

    • Administrate Newsletter Team and other mass communications.

    Finance and Fundraising:

    • Represent the needs of the organization to grantors, donors, and sponsors and the requirements of our funding partners to the organization.

    • Familiar with income and expenses in all categories of chart of accounts

    • Work with Fundraising Committee

      • Explore and execute new fundraising strategies.

    • Seeking new grant opportunities

      • Oversee and administrate submission and reporting of all grants.

      • Administrate grant writing team.

    • Assist department heads at budget time to finalize new budget.

    • Maintain current donor relations and develop new donors and funding opportunities

    • Seek and Establish relationships with new donors.

    Facility:

    • Work with committee members to Identify and prioritize facility needs.

    • Identify and pursue funds to make needed improvements.

      • create funding plans for large capital projects- grant/fundraising.

    • Plans approved projects with Caretaker.

    • Enlist help as needed (professional & volunteer)

    Direct reporting staff include Clinical Director and Ranch Caretaker, which includes equine responsibilities.
