Connected Colt Starting . . .
Connected Colt Starting is a unique learning opportunity for anyone interested in learning to start a young horse or restart an older horse.
The class will provide the step by step process in real time with a Lucky Star. Star is a 3 year old (4/8/2016) born at the ranch 2 months after her mother (Lily) was shipped to Peace Ranch from Louisiana kill pen.
Students will observe the entire process of developing a strong, connected relationship on the ground and transferring that to the saddle covering all basic riding skills needed for a young horse.
Classes will meet Thursdays and Saturdays for 6 weeks from July - September.
Dates and times are as follows: Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 | July 25, August 1, 8, 15, 29, September 5, 12.
Discover Your AHA! Art + Horse Assisted, A Unique Self Exploration Opportunity . . .
AHA! Is a unique group experience that combines the natural environment of PEACE Ranch, the grace of horses and the power of art for personal self-exploration.
• Need a safe place for reflection?
• Have an issue that feels ‘stuck’?
• Need grounding in a time of transition?
• Feel unsure about where you’re going or what you need?
Consider AHA!, a two-hour group experience facilitated by a qualified, professional EAGALA team to gently guide you toward your answers. Group size is limited.

Cost:$30 for one, $50 for both

Evergreen Experience . . .
The Evergreen Experience is a hands-on program designed specifically for individuals in the early stages of memory loss that combines horticultural therapy, gardening, and farm-based activities. The program consists of skill-based, adaptable activities that draw on participant’s strengths and encourage the use of all five senses. The Evergreen Experience is a great way to keep those with memory loss mentally, socially and physically active. Participants gain health benefits from the interwoven physical activity and confidence from individualized focus. Due to its shared group setting, this program allows for the creation of a strong supportive network of peers.
Dates: Saturday mornings in June - August

Farm Days . . .
Farm Days are family-friendly volunteer events at Peace Ranch. Help us with activities like gardening, cleaning, and preparing for the upcoming season.
Herd Meditation . . .
Herd Meditation Format:
• Meet & greet at the Peace Ranch
• Walk out to join the herd for a partly guided meditation
• Shift into a silent walking meditation with the herd
• Come back together to share our experiences
• Brief closing meditation
Suggested donation of $10 – $35 per gathering to support the therapeutic herd and their work. If times are tight, give as you are able. Please dress for the weather and bring your journal and whatever you need to be comfortable.
Hug & Groom . . .
Hug & Groom is our “gateway” program combining volunteerism and mentoring in a family friendly environment. Come out and help care for the horses and the ranch. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult and need a Liability Waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian to participate. All participants must wear appropriate footwear.
Natural Horsemanship Classes . . .
Peace Ranch offers a full Natural Horsemanship curriculum offering something for everyone, from beginners to advanced handlers.
Instructor Melissa Edingfield is EAGALA Certified and has taught locally for over 20 years including performance, horse care, and Natural Horsemanship. Melissa is well known for her intuitive style and excellence in teaching natural equine communication methods.

Teen Tuesdays . . .
A brand new summer learning experience for teens who love horses. Four weeks of basic instruction including: horse handling, grooming, horse care and even a little horse whispering. While learning, students will help in the care and training of rescue horses at Peace Ranch.
Our instructor Nancy Wieland is a Traverse City native and has taught numerous classes at the ranch including Basic Driving, Equine Assisted Life skills, plus oversees horse care and directs our weekly Hug & Groom program. Nancy has served the Northwest Michigan Fair as Draft Barn coordinator and the Northwest Michigan Draft & Mule Association as president. She is a life time horse owner, trainer, teacher, and handler.
Who: Students 13-16 (may be turning 13 anytime this year)
What: Four weeks of basic Horse Instruction
When: Tuesdays, 1-3 pm
Sign up for one of 3 sessions this summer, students may attend 1 or more sessions. Students attending multiple sessions will have more advanced instruction in horse handling and leadership development opportunities.
Cost: $100 per session per student. Class size is limited to 10 students per session.
The 5k/10k Peace Ranch Run . . .
The Peace Ranch 5k/10k Run offers a unique 5k through the Perre Marquette forest or a rugged 10k trail course. Walk, run, or take a ride on a horse-driven carriage. All proceeds benefit rescue horses in our therapeutic herd.
Cost: Adults $40, Students $25, 8 and under Free
